Welcome to Pilates in Shropshire
Based just outside Church Stretton in South Shropshire, I run my own Pilates Matwork classes in the area for men and women of all ages (18-85 years) and all fitness levels. My classes are small and progressive allowing people to work at their own pace.
I have trained and work with, the Modern Pilates method, whose principles are based on up to date research from the world of physiotherapy and other holistic forms of exercise. I have been teaching Pilates Matwork through classes and 1-1's full-time for 8 years.
The contemporary programme is devised to develop balance throughout the body and build strong stable muscles that are also flexible and correctly aligned. Attending regular Pilates sessions enables clients to improve and manage back problems and increase their awareness of posture thus preventing problems or conditions, in brief, we teach clients how to use these methods and to work Pilates into their daily lives.
The essence of the programme is on precision, not momentum or numerous repetitions. The programme addresses trunk stability, shoulder girdle stabilisation, maintenance of the natural alignment and form of the spine along with correct muscle recruitment, and of course, the key to most of this is the strengthening of the “core” muscles and lengthening tight muscles through movement and stretching.
